Reiki (pronounced ray-key) means "Universal Life Energy". Reiki has been handed down from Dr. Mikao Usui since the 19th century. Reiki is passed on to students by a Reiki Master/Teacher through attunements that can either be done in person or distantly.

Once a person has received Reiki attunements, they can then work with the Reiki energy and send it to others to provide benefits on many levels, including spiritual, emotional, physical and mental. It is a simple, safe, effective healing system that uses Universal Life Energy to help dissolve problems and return the body, mind, emotions and spirit to their natural perfect state.

Reiki sessions are given to the receiver either in person or through distance. If the session is done in person, the receiver can either lie down or sit upright. The receiver is completely clothed during the Reiki session, which can last any where from five minutes to a couple of hours. The Reiki Therapist will usually lay their hands on the receiver's body (head, neck, shoulders, stomach, back, legs, arms, hands and feet) or just slightly above the receiver's body and energy is transferred.

Reiki can also be sent through Distance Healing when the receiver is not physically present, as we are all connected by the Universal Life Energy at the spiritual level.

Any living thing can receive Reiki energy. This includes people, animals, plants, fish, etc. Reiki is not a religion and therefore can be received by anyone as all will benefit from the Universal Life Energy.

During the Reiki session, it is common for either the therapist and / or the receiver to experience heat, tingling, vibrations, peace, relaxation and/or feelings or emotions that may be very subtle or very strong.

Most people who have received Reiki have stated that they were very relaxed, may have fallen asleep and felt energized or revitalized after the session.
